Episode Transcript
[00:00:01] Speaker A: We are the super nerdy sailor guardians who fight for love and justice. And this is across the mooniverse.
I gotta say, every time I listen to that opening sequence, I'm like, that does not sound like me.
[00:00:33] Speaker B: But it does.
Everybody. Nobody thinks. Nobody likes the sound of their own voice.
[00:00:42] Speaker A: It's. It's wild every time. Also, hello.
[00:00:47] Speaker B: Hello.
[00:00:48] Speaker A: Welcome BACk to across the moon. Happy moon day. My name's Maddie.
[00:00:54] Speaker B: Yes.
I'm Mike.
And this is the costume.
[00:00:59] Speaker A: Yes, it is. And we're here once again to discuss the mood averse.
[00:01:05] Speaker B: And we're on season one, episode 15. We started hispanic raise. First date.
[00:01:11] Speaker A: Yup. Yeah, I hear that improper relationships are the enemy of all schoolgirls out there.
That's just what I hear.
[00:01:23] Speaker B: I love that, how it opens.
Remember, a student should not be having any proper relationships with the opposite gender, especially if they're older than you.
Yeah, I think Usagi's definitely got a bunch of pic with somebody.
[00:01:43] Speaker A: Just might. Maybe we'll find out why. I.
I think we get there. Yeah. Yeah, definitely.
Well, um, so, yeah, one thing I.
[00:01:56] Speaker B: Noticed this time, and you're probably. You're probably like, oh, you didn't notice that before?
[00:02:00] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:02:01] Speaker B: Usagi's bangs, sailor moons. Bangs form a little heart.
[00:02:05] Speaker A: Mm hmm.
[00:02:09] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:02:09] Speaker A: Like, just little.
[00:02:12] Speaker B: It's only when she. Sailor Moon. It's not like that when she's just deciding. Yeah, it's just saying.
[00:02:23] Speaker A: So this episode starts out with everybody hanging out at the park. And by everybody, I mean our three girls, right?
[00:02:32] Speaker B: Yeah, they're in this park. Did not say they never named the park. They don't.
Park is unnamed.
[00:02:39] Speaker A: It's just a really pretty park. And Amy goes to it regularly to read after cram school.
[00:02:45] Speaker B: We find. Yeah, well, it starts out Ray's. Oh, this is a beautiful place. And Usagi, of course, her mind's like, this would be perfect for a date.
And then. And then Ray is surprised that Ami knows this part. Ami says that she goes there reading for grammar school.
[00:03:02] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:03:03] Speaker B: As I recall that scene. Order of information. So it kind of puts Ami down a little bit in, like, I'm surprised you know about this place, nerd.
[00:03:14] Speaker A: You know, a little bit. Yeah. Yeah. But at the same time, though, I mean, maybe she just thinks that Ami just doesn't go outside.
[00:03:24] Speaker B: Yeah.
And then. So then we meet Mister Kogoritsu.
[00:03:29] Speaker A: Yes. Who Ami chan refers to as Oji Sandhya, which means grandpa.
[00:03:35] Speaker B: Oh, okay.
[00:03:36] Speaker A: And that. That means that she's very familiar with this gentleman because, you know, not actually her grandpa. He's just term.
[00:03:47] Speaker B: Term of endearment that's reserved for her grandpa.
[00:03:49] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah.
[00:03:50] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:03:51] Speaker A: So she's very familiar with this man and cares for him, right? Yeah. And turns out he's the park caretaker.
[00:04:00] Speaker B: He's a part caretaker, but not for long. We find out. No, because the owner of the land is sold. The land is going to turn into a business center.
[00:04:10] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:04:11] Speaker B: And we see. We see bulldozers already bulldozing the land. He says, I don't know.
What will the wildlife do? Where will it go?
[00:04:21] Speaker A: Yeah. Where will the animals and birds have to go?
It's very sad.
Everyone is feeling sad about the animals not having a place to go. Ray, on the other hand, has decided that, oh, shit, this park is gonna go away. I need to find a boyfriend so I can go on a date at this park before it's gone. Not save the park. Go on a date at the park before it's gone.
[00:04:51] Speaker B: That's right. If this place is closing, I better find a date before it's gone. Yeah.
[00:04:55] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:04:57] Speaker B: And then we cut. We cut to Luna, who's crossing a busy street, but she pauses in the middle of the street to notice that she's. Where is everybody today?
[00:05:08] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:05:09] Speaker B: Now she doesn't see anyone. Luna, who's always on Sailor Moon's case about not having it together and, you know, and this and that, we kind of cat pauses in the middle of the road. And you know what? It's Disney. I bring this up because the truck nearly hits her.
[00:05:25] Speaker A: Yeah. And really, honestly, a lot of cats pause in the middle of the road.
Cats do what they want.
Yeah. No. A truck almost hits her, but she is saved at the very last second by none other than mysterious stranger.
[00:05:44] Speaker B: That's right. Who. We finally run his name here in the next. In the next exchange.
[00:05:51] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:05:52] Speaker B: When mysterious stranger. So mysterious stranger saves Luna, and then doggy is like, hey. And he's like, manhandling Luna in the roughest way possible. Yeah, you can't do that to my chat. This chat is special. And he's like, hey, maybe you should thank him for saving Luna. Yeah. Luna can't speak because there's other humans around. But Luna kind of, kind of is down with that sentiment. You know?
[00:06:24] Speaker A: She is being held by only her front two paws.
Yeah.
[00:06:30] Speaker B: Then Matoki pokes his head out of it's game center crown, by the way. Yes. It's where they. It's the name of the game center, game center crown. And Matilda functions that out. And we find out. That's when we find out that mysterious stranger's name is Mamu.
[00:06:47] Speaker A: Mamula.
[00:06:48] Speaker B: You've known for quite. You. Yeah. What's his name? What's his last name?
[00:06:52] Speaker A: Chiba.
[00:06:54] Speaker B: Okay. Is there any significance to that? There is.
[00:06:58] Speaker A: There is. It means, um.
Oh, gosh. It. Mamoru is protector.
Hold on. Oh, gosh. I can't remember what Chiba means.
Frick.
Of all the things I looked up, that was not it.
[00:07:19] Speaker B: We can circle back that. We can go back to that.
[00:07:21] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:07:22] Speaker B: Yep.
[00:07:22] Speaker A: Yeah. I'll make the intern look it up.
[00:07:24] Speaker B: We've got 187 episodes to go. So doer today we cut connect light in his mansion, consulting stars, which. Which, as we know, that's his. That's his method, which we're gonna talk about again because it's not his method. His method is uses monsters.
I can't believe he didn't include that when he was. When he was doing his debriefing with feral. Which barrel doesn't appear in this episode?
[00:07:52] Speaker A: No, she does nothing.
[00:07:54] Speaker B: Yeah. He neck, right, consults the stars. And Beta Signi is brightest it's ever been. And it points to the garden.
Yes, very few.
[00:08:06] Speaker A: Yes. And I have information about Beta Signa, if you want. Because that is something that I looked up because we talked about the other constellations last time. Yeah. So he mentions that, that this. This is the man who is going to harness Alberio.
I looked that up because I was curious. And it is something. It's the name for the star system.
Another name for the star system, Cygnus, which is the swan constellation. And they gave the name Albedo to Beta Signi specifically because it is the brightest star in that system.
[00:08:48] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:08:49] Speaker A: And it's also sometimes called the Beak star because it's located at the head of the swan.
[00:08:55] Speaker B: And. Yeah. And nephrite says it's the brightest it's ever been. And it's pointing to the gardener. He's going to have peak energy coming up.
[00:09:05] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:09:06] Speaker B: What a coincidence that it just happens to be the same park that we've never seen them at before. But now, all of a sudden.
[00:09:15] Speaker A: I mean, you know, it happens. By the way, Mamoru Chiba's name means, quite literally means protector of the planet.
[00:09:26] Speaker B: Oh, wow. Yeah, I'm glad I wasn't.
[00:09:32] Speaker A: Because Chiba, his last name is the kanji that's used, is used in the word chikyu.
And the Japanese, which is the japanese name for Earth. And ba, meaning place or location, so literally. And Mamudu, as I said, means protect. So protect the earth.
[00:10:00] Speaker B: We cut back to the game center where Ray is drilling Matoki about Mamoru, asking all kinds of questions.
[00:10:09] Speaker A: And we learned that previously. We learned that he is in college.
[00:10:15] Speaker B: Right. He's also wealthy.
Yes.
[00:10:18] Speaker A: He comes from a wealthy family. He lives by himself in a very expensive condo.
[00:10:23] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:10:24] Speaker A: And the college he goes to is tough to get into.
[00:10:27] Speaker B: And Usagi overhears this college thing earlier. And you're in college.
[00:10:35] Speaker A: Turns out he goes to the same college as Motoki.
[00:10:37] Speaker B: Yeah. So, you know, which is difficult to get into.
[00:10:40] Speaker A: Yes. And then, and as far as we know, he is the perfect match for Reihino.
[00:10:45] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:10:46] Speaker A: That's the last thing we learned about him.
[00:10:50] Speaker B: Machoki asks her why she's interested, and she's like, oh, no reason. Yeah. Just playing it off. And so we come back to the park and never even chance the hat.
[00:11:04] Speaker A: Yeah. But, like, it starts with, like, the old man whose name just left my brain. Oh, Ji son looking over at the crunch. Yes. Kokori suit. Thank you.
Looking out over the construction and wondering how he can save all the animals and what's going to happen with them. And then Nephroy just appears. He's just, like, there, like a creep.
And he's far more. Yeah, he's far more direct in the way he, he curses the object than he was with, um, the tennis star.
[00:11:41] Speaker B: Yeah. He's just like, yeah.
He just reaches up and he's like, hey, monster, gather energy.
[00:11:50] Speaker A: Yeah.
And which answered the question that we were talking about last time of, like, what is the purpose of the crest? Is it like an accelerant or whatnot? But then we learned that no, it's more like a, like a sealing spell to hold the yoma.
[00:12:07] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:12:08] Speaker A: For when. Right. When they're at their peak.
[00:12:11] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, exactly. Well, it also gives empowers the person whose item has been in kingdom. Yeah. So, yeah. Gives them special abilities and nothing just tells them it's your duty.
[00:12:28] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:12:29] Speaker B: You know what I mean?
[00:12:30] Speaker A: Show those humans the fury of nature.
[00:12:34] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:12:35] Speaker A: Specifically butterflies.
[00:12:38] Speaker B: Exactly.
Because it's your duty.
At the end of.
He, he really plays on this idea of duty.
[00:12:50] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, he does.
[00:12:52] Speaker B: Totally. And then. Yeah, I love that. Butterflies attack bulldozers.
[00:12:58] Speaker A: I, in my notes, I wrote the very destructive caterpillars all grown up.
[00:13:11] Speaker B: We cut to Ray, who's rehearsing a little run in with Mamaru.
Yes.
[00:13:19] Speaker A: She's daydreaming and she.
Perfect plan. Gonna go flawlessly.
[00:13:26] Speaker B: I'll find out that she's gonna accidentally, accidentally bump into him and then he's gonna feel so bad about it. They invited out to a cup of coffee.
[00:13:35] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:13:35] Speaker B: And Sagi sees this.
[00:13:39] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:13:40] Speaker B: When she actually, instead of putting, she sees Maori coming, and she steps out to bump into him. But in Juizo, she trips and falls right. Right in front of him. And Usagi says, oh, what a cut. And Luna's like, cuts, look at.
[00:14:01] Speaker A: I just love that he steps on her head.
[00:14:05] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
And then he's like, are you okay?
[00:14:10] Speaker A: She's like, yeah. And he's like, oh, good bye.
[00:14:15] Speaker B: You're gonna keep going? And she has to stop him and mention about her. And she's like, well, can I. Can I invite you for a cup of coffee? And he's like, why?
For putting my head in the way of your foot.
[00:14:28] Speaker A: For making you step on my head.
So beautiful. And then they walk away. He agrees to go to coffee, mostly, probably because he's kind of confused. He did recognize her as quote unquote bun heads, uh, friend.
[00:14:49] Speaker B: Right.
[00:14:49] Speaker A: So he's at least tangentially familiar with her.
[00:14:53] Speaker B: Right.
[00:14:54] Speaker A: Um. And so they walk off with Ray putting her, linking her arm with his, basically.
[00:15:03] Speaker B: No. And then they cut the commercial then, right. That's the midpoint.
[00:15:08] Speaker A: Well, Usagi says he's too old for her. That is an improper relationship right there. My student handbook even said that it was unacceptable. Rachan is in danger.
[00:15:21] Speaker B: That's right.
[00:15:21] Speaker A: And she runs off to go. To go snoop on Rachan. And Luna says, I bet she's just jealous.
[00:15:32] Speaker B: This is going to.
[00:15:35] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. She's just like, oh, no.
Yeah. Which I feel like Luna has excused to feel that way at this point.
[00:15:44] Speaker B: In this particular case, Luna's not. Isn't being a taskmaster. Luna has everyone to be concerned about where this, like, oh, no. Soggy doesn't let us down. She's sitting there trying to. Trying to figure out how she can get into the coffee shop because she doesn't have any money. And it was like, well, maybe you didn't spend all your money on ice cream.
[00:16:06] Speaker A: It was a good reason to spend money.
[00:16:08] Speaker B: Yeah. And then who shows up?
[00:16:11] Speaker A: Well, first, Usagi tries to use the transformation pen. Oh, that's right. So she can snoop. And Luna's like, no, no, no. It's only meant to be used for good. And Usagi's like, well, maybe it won't hurt a.
[00:16:26] Speaker B: She said, I'll be a good waitress. That's. That's what I like.
It's being used for good. It's gonna be a good way.
[00:16:36] Speaker A: And then suddenly. Lumino.
[00:16:39] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:16:40] Speaker A: Creek. Just. Just hanging out, inquiring about what she's doing just being weird. Like he's prone to do.
[00:16:48] Speaker B: Yeah. And he's like, hey, you got any money? And he's like, yeah, yeah. And she's like, you wanna kick me out on a date?
[00:16:54] Speaker A: And he's like, yeah, she definitely manipulates him. She uses for her advantage.
[00:17:02] Speaker B: Not the first pretty girl to take advantage of the nerd who likes her.
You know what I'm saying?
[00:17:09] Speaker A: That's fair enough.
[00:17:10] Speaker B: Yeah.
This happens in the world.
[00:17:14] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:15] Speaker B: So how they're there, I don't really know. I don't even remember what Ray and mama were talking about. They just kind of shooting the breeze, weren't they?
[00:17:27] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. They're kind of like. Just. It's a little awkward. It's a little quiet. And then she's just LIKE, uM. Hey, MAYBe you want to go to the park with me. It's really cool. You should go with me.
[00:17:39] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:17:41] Speaker A: Yeah, sure, I guess.
[00:17:44] Speaker B: Usagi's office can't hear what they're saying.
[00:17:47] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:17:47] Speaker B: And then, um. And then they. They get up to leave to go to the park, and Usagi leans in to take a sip of the soda that she's serving and realizes that she's. It's LIKE A. LiKe they're lovebirds drinking out of the same. Out of the same drink, and she freaks out.
[00:18:04] Speaker A: Yeah. And I love, like. I don't know. I love the noise that they make in Japanese when they're drinking from the straw, because it's just like.
It's like, the weirdest little noise, and it makes me so happy. Like, I'm just like. I don't even Know what that's supposed to be, but I love it.
[00:18:25] Speaker B: So then. Then there's just a real brief little interlude where Luna jumps up on Ami's shoulders, and she's like. SHe seems SAD today, and I. And Ami just says, yeah, yeah, I am. And then we cut to the park. So it's. It's kind of. It's kind of, um, suggested that's what's on her mind, is what's going on in the park.
[00:18:49] Speaker A: And when we cut to the park, we see, um, the landowner talking to the park manager, um, right. Saying that the construction crew is supposedly quit, um, for some reason.
[00:19:01] Speaker B: I know, from butterfly attack. Yeah, exactly.
[00:19:04] Speaker A: Yeah. And so, yeah, they've decided to keep the Parkinson's.
[00:19:08] Speaker B: Little weird.
[00:19:08] Speaker A: And they want to keep the groundskeeper.
[00:19:10] Speaker B: Right. It's a little. It's a little weird. I think that they do it that way because now, all of a sudden, he got what he wanted. You know what I mean? Yeah, they're gonna. They're gonna keep the park as is. But he's out. But he's possessed by the. By the yoma. So he. You know, he's still. He's still.
There's still evil to her.
[00:19:31] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:19:32] Speaker B: Correct. Because the landowner goes and he's using to himself. He can't believe the construction company quit because of birds and insects.
[00:19:42] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:19:42] Speaker B: Butterflies. Yeah, birds. And is what he says. And he puts his. Throws a cigarette on the ground, at which point, all the squirrels in the park attack him.
[00:19:53] Speaker A: The squirrels, their eyes glow. Redhead. They attack.
[00:19:57] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:19:57] Speaker A: It's epic.
It's. It's beautiful.
And according to Luna, it must be the work of the dark kingdom.
[00:20:09] Speaker B: Naturally.
These. These squirrels are. These girls are full of evil. Doesn't she say something like that? These were all evil energy or something like that?
[00:20:19] Speaker A: Yeah, something like that. She's just like, there's a lot of evil here.
We need to get this taken care of, because the only time there's evil is when it's evil.
[00:20:30] Speaker B: So I go to time as any to talk about this. So there's a lot of things in Sailor Moon that are very pro female, almost feminist point of view, which I know is odd for a man to be talking about feminism, but nevertheless, the girls still have these. These motivations that are very non feminist. Like, usagi's being boy crazy. That's not a very feminist kind of point of view.
You know what I mean?
Her whole motivation is, you know, these. These various guys that she has crushers on.
You know what I'm saying? I mean, yeah, I just. I think, is she gonna grow up and listen to bikini kill? That's what I want to know. Is she gonna be a third wave feminist or is she gonna stay boy crazy her whole life?
What do you think?
[00:21:28] Speaker A: I think that part of the motivation for Sailor Moon was to write a story about, like, just a normal girl. So to ignore the boy crazy tendencies of a young girl in junior high, I think, would be.
[00:21:52] Speaker B: That makes sense.
[00:21:53] Speaker A: Yeah, it would. It would. It sounds silly to say this, but it would be unrealistic, right?
[00:22:01] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:22:01] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:22:02] Speaker B: Because she is. She is kind of a silly heart, too, you know? And so that all fits in with it. But she's.
[00:22:09] Speaker A: And she just. Yeah, she's lovable and she loves, like, not only is she, like, boy crazy, but she just loves to everything so authentically.
[00:22:19] Speaker B: Yes.
[00:22:20] Speaker A: It's almost like she's the. She's the soldier of love and justice or something weird.
[00:22:25] Speaker B: I don't think that so the landowner, he's like. He's like, I'm out of here. I'm never coming back to this place after he gets.
[00:22:34] Speaker A: Yeah. He's like, I won't ever bother this park again.
[00:22:37] Speaker B: Yeah. And then it comes to Rey and Mamoru. They're in a boat on the lake, which I would feel like Tuxedo Mask would know the city better than to be surprised by this part. You know what I mean?
I have this. I have this image that he's got a crime Fighting Wall with Yarn, you know, strung from picture to picture.
[00:23:04] Speaker A: Mask might. But, you know, we don't know what Mamoru does or does not know.
[00:23:10] Speaker B: Okay, very good.
[00:23:15] Speaker A: I think TuxedO Mask has a lot more knowledge than MamorU does.
[00:23:19] Speaker B: Okay, fair enough.
We'll get to that. Ray. Ray's on to him.
Ray's definitely got his number.
[00:23:31] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:23:32] Speaker B: All right, so we see them in the boat they're talking about, ANd then Usagi. Usagi has dragged Uno to the park as well. And Uno thinks that this is his big chance to get it smooth.
[00:23:49] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
[00:23:51] Speaker B: He's like. He's. Yeah, I like that. He's like, oh, it's so bald that you brought me here.
We're too young for this, but I'm gonna go for it.
He turns around and she's been distracted or something. She's not.
[00:24:05] Speaker A: She's gone. Yeah, she's on another thing. Yeah, she walked away. So he's just there by himself. Poor Umino. I feel bad for him.
He's creepy, but at the same time, he. He has, like.
He's, like, a creepy, weird Nerd dude, but at the same time, he's so genuine. Like, he's just awkward, and I adore him. Yeah, yeah.
Oh, you know?
[00:24:35] Speaker B: So.
So then Usagi meets up with AmI. Then somehow they're together, and Usagi is.
[00:24:49] Speaker A: Like, going to go to the Boat. Like, she's going to go to the Boat to stop what they're doing. And then Ami and Luna happen to meet up with Usagi right at that point, okay.
[00:25:01] Speaker B: At that point. And then Mister Kogoritsu sees them, and he's. You humans have abused the gifts of Mother Nature. The gifts of the nature has given you. The only way to make up for this is with your deaths. But that was really extreme. This is the first time we've ever heard anybody, like, threaten death, you know, and.
[00:25:20] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[00:25:23] Speaker B: In all Jade Schemes, it was just gathering energy. It wasn't about killing people, you know, so I thought that was an interesting king, you know, to kind of up the ante a little bit.
[00:25:35] Speaker A: Yeah. I mean, there was some danger of people being killed or dying in some of jade schemes, but it was like an. It was like a side.
[00:25:43] Speaker B: Right. This is. This is. Yeah.
[00:25:46] Speaker A: In this case, clearly intentional.
[00:25:49] Speaker B: He's calling. He's calling for them to die. And it's at that point where he's in. He's reached peak energy. And again, creeping in the shadows, nephrite calls forth the monster and wrote down Pedasus. Is there any meaning to that name?
[00:26:11] Speaker A: Oh, gee, not that I'm aware of.
Let me double check with the intern.
[00:26:20] Speaker B: And at that point, mercury transforms and. And sailor moons, it's, like, transfixed by her transformation. You just standing there, you know, with her. With her. And Luna has to tell her.
[00:26:34] Speaker A: Transform. Come on.
Yeah, exactly.
And it's interesting that mercury. Mercury is the first to transform because she's, like, so incensed by what has happened to.
[00:26:48] Speaker B: Right. Yeah.
[00:26:50] Speaker A: Mister Kokoritsu. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:26:52] Speaker B: She's. This is. This episode is very much about her and her relationship with Gokuritsu. Yeah.
And so Sailor moon transforms, and then they cut to the boat, and Mamoru senses the bird attack before it happens. Did you notice that he's not.
[00:27:17] Speaker A: I did. Feeling all before something he has suddenly wrong.
[00:27:22] Speaker B: Yeah. He had some kind of success about him, the smaller character, which you would think he could have used that to keep himself from getting hit by garbage. Is that, you know, maybe.
[00:27:34] Speaker A: Maybe it's like a certain threat level that it goes off. Like, yeah, garbage. Not a big enough threat. Swarm of birds. There was a whole hitchcock coming out.
[00:27:44] Speaker B: That, you know, a shoe coming at you. That's not going to set it off, but it's birds coming at you. You're gonna get. You're gonna get a. Oh, yeah. Gotcha. Fair enough.
And she wastes no time. Cassie, bubble spray.
[00:28:02] Speaker A: No, she's. Oh, and we should mention that the birds attack, and the boat flips over.
[00:28:07] Speaker B: Yeah, exactly.
[00:28:11] Speaker A: Yeah. And then, yeah, mercury is immediately like, bubble spray, my dudes. And it's like a slow spell to the creatures.
[00:28:21] Speaker B: Yeah.
Nevertheless, the yoma is still able to cast hand flower on moon and toasted on mercury. So that, yeah, they get wrapped up. They get wrapped up by vines, basically. Both of them just a little bit different attack on each one.
[00:28:40] Speaker A: It would never not make me laugh that the move is hand flower like.
And it's. It's so unceremonious too. It's just like the animals are moving slower now and then, so this is like hand flower.
And I was like, I can't, I'm dying. I can't. I love this show. Oh, my God, it's beautiful.
[00:29:04] Speaker B: And flower. Yeah.
And then the other attack is just. Is this the yoma's name? And rope?
[00:29:13] Speaker A: I mean, at least that makes a little bit more sense.
[00:29:17] Speaker B: Yeah. So then Ami is tied up with the pitocis rope and. And she's like, must not fail, must not fail. And then out of nowhere, we hear fire soul.
Oh, no. Uses herself from day.
[00:29:36] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:29:42] Speaker B: And she's like, yeah.
[00:29:44] Speaker A: She's like, I sense evil. Um, mama, do you stay here. I'll be right back.
Yeah, I gotta go do things.
[00:29:52] Speaker B: And. And she does, she comes over the nice fire song, which she feels the. It's the. The plant life away. And of course, instead of being grateful, Sailor Moon's like, oh, sailor mothers is like, how are you? And Sailor Moon is like, I'd be better if you hadn't tried to light me on fire.
[00:30:16] Speaker A: I mean, you know.
Yeah, I like that.
[00:30:22] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, that was real.
[00:30:24] Speaker A: And then right at that moment, we get our beautiful introductory scene with the catchphrase, in the name of the moon, I will punish you. But it's not our normal magical girl.
Mercury and Mars both have their own flavor. They're incensed because, you know, you messed with oji san, you messed with Mars's date.
This is unforgivable. You must be punished. In the name of the moon.
[00:30:53] Speaker B: In the name of the moon. And Shaugie's like, hey, that's my cat's phrase. I love that.
When it's metal like that.
[00:31:02] Speaker A: Yeah. She's like, how dare you?
[00:31:06] Speaker B: How dare you steal my phrase. Yeah. Next thing that happens is rose to the face, isn't it?
[00:31:12] Speaker A: Yes. Yeah. Tuxedo common fights flowers with flowers, bitch.
[00:31:18] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:31:18] Speaker A: He throws a rose at a creature made of flowers, and it stuns her long enough that sailor Moon should get off. And he calls, sailor moon.
[00:31:28] Speaker B: And that is up to you now. And she busts out.
It's always bothered me because she spins around a couple of times, but then she loses all that momentum because she stops. And then she throws the tiara, a distance thrower, uses the spinning momentum, you know what I mean? But she stops. She stops dead and then throws it with her arm.
Yeah, exactly.
And once again, it has an airburst. It never hits the yoma. It explodes before it gets to the yoma. Nevertheless, in this case, it totally wipes the yoma out.
[00:32:10] Speaker A: Yes.
As. As we expect from every other time before. And then, um.
[00:32:18] Speaker B: And then Tuxedo mouse. Tuxedo mouse says, then we'll meet again, Sarah Guardians.
And then he disappears.
[00:32:25] Speaker A: Whooshes into the darkness, and it's beautiful.
[00:32:28] Speaker B: And. And then. And Ray is like, Ray's like, I think Mamoru is secretly tattooed on a.
Yeah, Usagi's haven't done it.
[00:32:37] Speaker A: Yeah. Mamoru comes by shortly after that, after everything's all set up, and Ami chan, everyone's transformed back to their normal and all of that stuff. And Mamoru comes up, and he's like, that was so awful. That was unpleasant. I'm so sad. I'm soggy. This sucks. And then that's when Rey is like, mmm. What if Mamoru is tuxedo common? And Usagi flips out. She's like, how dare you? Oh, yeah, she would. They wouldn't. Tuxedo camera would never be this guy.
Rude.
[00:33:08] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[00:33:10] Speaker A: And then once heard this, says, who's tuxedo common? I don't know who this person is.
[00:33:17] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, exactly. Then Umu shows up, and he wants to finish their date, and sailor Moon's like, stop making stuff up.
[00:33:30] Speaker A: That didn't happen, you silly goose.
[00:33:33] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:33:34] Speaker A: And everybody is just horribly amused.
[00:33:36] Speaker B: Yeah. Mars, like, so this is your type, huh? And to sailor Moon, just absolute.
[00:33:43] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:33:43] Speaker B: He's just, like, mortified. Yeah.
[00:33:45] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:33:46] Speaker B: Well, that's what you get when you. When you use somebody for your. You know what I mean? You try to trick somebody into thinking you're into it, you know? That's what you deserve at the end of the episode.
[00:33:58] Speaker A: Yeah.
Next up, it's. Well, I have. I have something to say because we never talk about the ending credits, really. Um, I don't know if you listen to them every time, but I usually do. I don't know if it's my. Was my tv speakers or if it was the audio, but the ending theme sounds really like Tenny, you know?
[00:34:17] Speaker B: Yeah, it is. It is.
[00:34:19] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:34:19] Speaker B: The only thing I noticed about it is that, is that it's pretty much just her in the. In the wind. And then there's one shooting star, and then there's a whole bunch of shooting stars. There's, like, six or eight of them. And then at the very end, the silhouette of tuxedo mask enters frame, runs up from behind her, and embraces her.
[00:34:39] Speaker A: As well he should.
[00:34:41] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:34:42] Speaker A: Because his bae.
[00:34:47] Speaker B: And next up will be episode 16, a girl's dream. Usagi becomes a. Oh, I can't wait to.
[00:34:55] Speaker A: Me either. I'm very excited.
[00:35:00] Speaker B: We did for an hour this time, but I think we covered the episode pretty well.
[00:35:04] Speaker A: We did. I will. I will circle back on a couple of things.
[00:35:10] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:35:12] Speaker A: One pedestos.
As far. It has nothing to do with plants. It's weird. It's a pedestal. Was a broad brimmed hat I commonly worn by travelers and hunters in ancient Greece. The word is commonly used in mythology to refer to the winged hat worn by the God Hermes.
[00:35:30] Speaker B: Huh. Well, I guess maybe the hat maybe.
[00:35:35] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's probably it because it was kind of a wide brim hat.
[00:35:42] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:35:43] Speaker A: You're so smart. This is why you're my co host and my friend.
[00:35:49] Speaker B: Yay.
[00:35:51] Speaker A: Yay.
The other thing was, I was gonna tell. I was gonna share Mamoru's age.
He is 16 years old. In the manga.
In the anime, he is confirmed to be 17 years old, a first year university student.
[00:36:14] Speaker B: Okay. And yes, yes.
[00:36:21] Speaker A: This is also stated in the animation drama cds. In Japan, they would typically be 18 years old, implying that he had skipped a grade.
[00:36:28] Speaker B: Okay, so he's very intelligent.
[00:36:30] Speaker A: He's. He's a very smart boy. We knew that because the college got into is really tough to get into. Yeah, yeah.
[00:36:37] Speaker B: As I said, yes. Fair enough. You want to talk about social media?
[00:36:42] Speaker A: Yeah. So, as always, y'all can reach us on Twitter and Facebook and all that jazz by looking up Mooney cast. And then, of course, our website, which is across the Moonaverse dot castos.com.
we try and check social media as regularly as possible. I've been trying to keep up on the facebook and all that stuff, but still get back into the groove of the social media thing, honestly. So we're getting there, but, yeah, feel free to hit us up, because we want to talk to you guys about stuff.
[00:37:20] Speaker B: Thank you for taking care of that.
[00:37:22] Speaker A: Yeah, of course.
[00:37:24] Speaker B: All right.
[00:37:25] Speaker A: I know how you feel about social media.
[00:37:26] Speaker B: All right, well, happy Monday night.
[00:37:28] Speaker A: Happy Monday. All right, we'll see you guys all next time. And Happy Moon day. Yay.
